It seems like the theme of this early new year is new music. New music from starving fans who have been anticipating some sort of new music. Reported by CONSEQUENCE OF SOUND, Father John Misty performed a new song as a way of previewing his new album Pure Comedy.

The length of the song is 13 minutes, an unusual length for most songs. The titled of the song is “Leaving L.A.” and it is looked at as an inside perspective on fame and musicianship. The song was premiered on a BBC radio show hosted by Lauren Laverne. Misty gave listeners a look inside his creative process when said that it took him over 3 years to complete the song and he went through 40 different verses in the process to complete the song.

Father John released some new music earlier this month “Ballad of the Dying Man” and “Two Wildly Different Perspectives”.

In a hilarious way to end the in studio performance, he said  That’s the whitest, most acoustic thing you’ve ever seen,”
