Poet and rapper Noname is coming to The Chapel this winter when she makes her way to the city. She’s touring with equally talented musician Rayvn Lanae as she goes around the US to promote her debut mixtape.
Noname has actually been in the scene longer than most and has been featured on some of the best tracks as of late. She got her start with being featured on huge singles like Chance the Rapper’s Lost from his debut album Acid Rap back in 2013, 2015’s Warm Enough from Donnie Trumpet and the Social Experiment, or on bay area favorite Lil’ B’s song Last Dance. Girl has gotten around and it has only helped her gain success and momentum. Her debut mixtape Telefone came out in 2016. That album has the popular songs Diddy Bop, All I Need, and Sunny Debut. My personal favorite (is all of her work ever) is the song Forever. Noname’s mixtape is based off of phone calls she’s had over the years, but I think most importantly other than her killer raps is her album deals with the experiences of a black women. That perspective isn’t always portrayed in rap or any type of music specifically, so her songs carry that fresh, introspective, and socially-conscious element to them.
Fans of NxWorries, Kehlani, and Chance the Rapper will be down for this show. She’s gonna bring it when she hits The Chapel. Make sure you hit click on a ticket and I’ll catch you there. Noname is a rising star and we should all be there to watch her kill it on stage.
