Post-hardcore band Thursday, has announced dates for their first tour since their disbandment in 2011. The reunion tour will commence on March 28th in Boston, MA at the House of Blues, making stops at various destinations across the U.S. Some of these stop include, Portland, Atlanta, Los Angeles, eventually coming to an end on April 30th in Irving Plaza New York.
Originally forming in 1997, Thursday has been a heavy influence in the post-hardcore, screamo scene. Releasing a total of six studio albums, No Devolución was the most recent in 2011. In November, the band released an official statement on their twitter page and website essentially explaining that while there has been no falling out and they remain close the band will no longer continue to make music together. An expert from the statement read “Underneath it all, the personal circumstances involved make it impossible to continue Thursday in the spirit that has made it special. So, we stop. For now, at least.” Thus resulting in the disbandment of the New Jersey- native band.
The band played a few shows here and there, including making an appearance at Atlanta Wrecking Ball Festival in 2016. Mid January last year, Thursday hinted at a potential reunion after lead singer Geoff Rickly posted a picture of the group together on his twitter account. However, there was no confirmation of the reunion… until now!
Well they’re reunited and it feels so good! California’s post-hardcore band Touché Amoré will be opening for the band on their 24-date tour. Other opening performances will include: Basement, Wax Idols (3/28 – 4/12) and Cities Aviv (4/14 – 4/30).
