The initial lineup for 2017’s California Deathfest has just been announced including bands like Victims, S.O.B. and Cianide.
Riding the success of Maryland’s own Deathfest, the West Coast California Deathfest has just announced a taste of what their lineup will include for 2017. This will be the festival’s third year running and is primarily made up of the best heavier acts from around the world. This year already includes bands from seven different countries out of the 11 bands that have been announced. The seven foreign acts include Samael from Switzerland, S.O.B. from Japan, Merciless from Sweden, Tsjuder from Norway, Victims from Sweden, Dead Congregation from Greece and Diocletian from New Zealand. With American acts such as Cianide from Chicago, Lord Gore from Portland, Crurifragium from Seattle and Ascended Dead from San Diego.
One big story coming from the festival, aside from the lineup, comes from Samael’s announcement that they will be performing their 1994 album, Ceremony of Opposites, in its entirety. This was the third album from the Swiss extreme metal band and their second release with Century Media Records. The second thing that sticks out about this festival so far is the reformation of Diocletian, who had a falling out after their very successful 2015 album, Gesudrian, that Pitchfork named number 15 on their list of Best Metal Albums of that year. Tickets for the festival have been made available today and the remainder of the lineup will be announced soon. Below is the first official festival poster as well as the listed lineup.
