Hayley Kiyoko, the indie pop rising star is making an appearance at Chicago’s Double Door in April. The singer/actress begins her tour promoting fresh off the release of her third solo EP, Citrine. The album – which was inspired by her fans – has an electropop sound and uplifting beats. Her One Bad Night Tour kicks off in March and wraps up June.
Kiyoko has released two other solo Eps: A Belle to Remember (2013) and This Side of Paradise (2015). Her most acclaimed hit from her second EP titled “Girls Like Girls” has over 57 million views on Vevo. The song is an anthem about stealing another guy’s girl and exploring one’s own sexual identity and not fearing judgement of others. Kiyoko understands her position as a role model for young women and hopes to inspire fans with her music. She says, ““Hope. That’s my cause. I strive to inspire hope through human compassion and through music. Hope leads me through my lyrics, stories, and melodies. You must continue on, and know in your heart you are not alone, and have confidence that love will find its way back to you.”
