Elbow the British indie rock pioneers release a captivating new video for their latest single “Gentle Storm” featuring Benedict Cumberbatch. The video may seem very familiar to veteran fans of the genre and here’s why. Elbow front man Guy Carvey explains in a press release “Gentle Storm’ reminded me of something”, he realized the connection were the visuals for “Cry’ by Godley and Creme in 1985, an iconic 35mm video directed by Kevin Godley. Carvey wanted to give new life to the original concept and contacted Godley after approval from the rest of the band. The result is rebirth of the “Cry” visuals once again directed by Godley and featuring friends, family and the very famous Benedict Cumberbatch. The 4K video delivers a steady stream of faces morphing into one another as they lip sync to the solemn voice of Carveys rich lyrics each person conveying their own interpretation of emotions.
