The lineup is out and now we all have something to look forward to! The New Orleans Jazz Festival fails to impress year after year, but this year offers an especially exciting lineup! Headliners Stevie Wonder, Tom Petty and Lorde will be accompanied by Louisiana arts, crafts and culture for two weekends of exceptional fun and festivities.
The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival is the culmination of the deeply rooted jazz culture in Louisiana. Festival producer George Wein points to 1970 when Mahalia Jackson, famed gospel singer, and Duke Ellington had an impromptu performance in the streets of New Orleans with the Eureka Brass Band at the Louisiana Heritage Fair describing it as “the moment the spirit of Jazz Fest was born”. The event quickly proved to be wildly appealing and successful, delivering a unique experience of the culture, food and music of Louisiana. Continued success over the years has grown the event into a 7 day celebration of all things New Orleans.
The festival will be held April 28- May 7th at the Fair Grounds Race Course in historic Mid City New Orleans. The line up features over 500 artists spanning all genres, although the festival respectively maintains its jazz head liners such as Dr. John, The Meters and Irma Thomas, it will be hosting mainstream giants such as Dave Matthews, Kings of Leon, Wilco, Alabama Shakes and Snoop Dogg. This year’s festivities also plans to have the largest celebration of Cuban culture to date in the U.S. Check out the lineup below, if you are interested in grabbing your tickets now visit the website Here.
