The Coathangers @ Barracuda 2/10

The Coathangers are an Atlanta based punk trio that initially formed as joke, however, their music is nothing to laugh at. Eventually, the Atlanta band was recognized playing at a house show, and offered the chance to tour with and open for fellow Atlanta punk band, The Hiss. The Coathangers later went on to become a full-fledged band. From their hilarious stage names (Rusty Coathanger, Crook Coathanger, and Minnie Coathanger) to their band names irreverent, darkly humorous reference to self-induced abortions, The Coathangers still try not to take themselves too seriously.

Their addictive and catchy punk tracks have won The Coathangers fans across the US and Europe.  Drummer/vocalist Stephanie Luke (Rusty) originally worked as a tour manager in California, which taught her the basics of touring and booking gigs. Due to her experience–which rubbed off on the rest of the group–The Coathangers now manage their own tours from time to time. They dropped their fourth studio album, Nosebleed Weekend, last April on Suicide Squeeze Records, which was met with general praise. The future of this punk rock trio is yet to be determined, but you can except the ladies of The Coathangers to continue doing what they love; having fun and making great music.
