Portugal. The Man ended 2016 by releasing the Michael Ragen-directed visual for “Noise Pollution,” along with the following note to their fans:
It’s been a rough month y’all.
Not to be dramatic and shit, but there’s a flood of noise right now that feels like it might drown us all. And it’s harder and harder to tell what’s fact, what’s opinion, and what’s just straight up bullshit.
We’re not able to make sense of it, much less tell you how to make sense of it. Thank God there’s music for that. We’ve been working on a new record with your boy Michael Diamond for awhile, but we made a quick stop in Alaska with filmmaker Michael Ragen to shoot this video. Seemed like the right time to show it to you.
We’re in this together.
Portugal. The Man has built a solid reputation for being an exciting live act to see and has sold out venues around the world as well as holding main stage slots at every major festival including Bonnaroo, Coachella, and Lollapalooza. Now the band has announced that they will be playing a handful of shows of this summer in a few major cities coast to coast across the U.S.
Though there are more dates to be added at a future date here’s what we know about the tour so far. The tour will begin at New York City’s Terminal 5 before heading to what is arguably one of the most beautiful venues in the US: Denver’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre. Then the boys will play a hometown show in Portland before making their way to Cali to play at both the Greek Theater in Berkely as well as Los Angeles’ Hollywood Palladium. We will update the tour dates as they are added. Today, after the initial release of the tour dates a series of tweets went out by the band suggesting that they will actually play two venues at each tour stop with the exception of New York:
Local Natives will join the band on select dates of the tour and fans can purchase tickets as part of an exclusive Spotify pre-sale beginning January 24th at 10am local time, with tickets being released to the general public on Friday, January 27th.
