Chattanooga, Tennessee hip hop musician, Isaiah Rashad (born Isaiah Rashad McClain) is looking to leave his mark in hip hop music. Known for being a songwriter, singer, record producer and rapper, Rashad is certainly an ambitious force in the hip hop game. The young rapper has had much subsequent success come his way, from tours alongside Juicy J and Joey Badass to a signing with the influential label Top Dog Entertainment (TDE)—which boasts heavyweights such as Kendrick Lamar and Schoolboy Q. His latest effort, The Sun’s Tirade, dropped last September, and achieved the number 17 spot on Billboard’s 200.
In his youth, Rashad was found listening to rappers like Too Short and Scarface. In junior high, after contemplating a career in preaching, Rashad heard the highly acclaimed OutKast album, ATLiens. the album had a profound effect on his ambitions, and eventually, he decided to pursue a career in hip hop full time. Rashad was later featured on XXL’s 2014 freshman line-up—a segment known for broadening the reach of up-and-coming rappers. His debut, The Sun’s Tirade, explored the personal struggles that Rashad dealt with when recording the album—from addiction to depression and anxiety. Despite his personal struggles, Rashad’s album finally saw the light of day, and went on to receive a bevy of praise from critics.
Isaiah Rashad will play a sold-out show at Grizzly Hall on the 23rd.
