Many artists choose to use their platform as a way to assist causes that are close to their heart. Currently, there are compilations being released to benefit the ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union).
The comp features David Bazan (covering The Long Winters), Mates of State (covering Death Cab for Cutie), Maps & Atlases (covering Ra Ra Riot), Nada Surf (covering John Vanderslice), Ramona Falls (covering Lakethereof), Say Hi (covering Nada Surf), and The Long Winters (covering Pedro the Lion).
“After the election, our staff felt compelled to speak out in defense of the civil liberties of all Americans,” said by Grant McCallum of Barsuk Records “Helping support the crucial work of the ACLU by releasing these new tracks felt like one way we could make a statement and help, and the artists involved were all excited to donate their work.”
These compilations will send the proceeds to the ACLU and some Planned Parenthood.
