Tift Merrit, the Grammy Award-nominated singer/songwriter, has premiered her latest single “Heartache Is An Uphill Climb” which will be appearing on her upcoming new album Stitch Of The World, releasing on later on this month.
The new music video features Tift Merrit herself walking throughout different scenes in the same small American town. In what seems like the stereotypical nuddle-America, blue collar town, equip with your grand water tower that Merrit climbs up as she sings her lyrics, or walking down the street to marching bands and little parades. It seems like Merrit picked the perfect backdrop to her inspiring and relatable song.
Merrit commented on the song to Rolling Stone, stating “I’ve always written about things I’m deeply, personally tied to, but maybe not so obviously before. What was it Hemingway said: ‘There are no metaphors.’ As I’ve grown up and grown older, I’ve learned more about the ability to tap into yourself. There’s a sense of power in that,” she says. “But at the same time, I pray it’s not just a journal entry that won’t stand on its own.”
Tift Merrit will be taking her show on the road this upcoming Winter/Spring, traveling throughout the united states in order to promote her newest work live to her fans. Be sure to catch her if you have a chance near you.
