Iron Maiden Announces Spring 2017 Book of Souls Tour Dates with Opening Act Ghost

Although Iron Maiden’s infamous private jet “Ed Force One,” suffered a nasty accident last year while on tour, it did not discourage the legendary metal group, who are hitting the road once again in support of their latest album, The Book of Souls.

The band has announced a new batch of North American dates, filling in some of the gaps they missed last year and some that haven’t been filled in quite some time.

The band will see their first ever performance in Brooklyn, while Minneapolis, Oklahoma City and Oakland will see the band in action for the first time in several years. Charlotte, Chicago, Houston, Toronto and several other cities will also get to see the legends in action.

To make matters even more exciting is the fact that Swedish invaders and metal sensation Ghost will serve as the opener for all shows. The Swedish band has enjoyed unusual success for dark metal band in America, paving the way for their newest single “Square Hammer,” as well as a successful run of U.S. shows this past year in support of their Popestar EP (if you’re dark metal band and can get a show in Kentucky, you’re doing something right). Ghost have even challenged standards in the overwhelmingly male-dominated metal world with the addition of a new female bassist.

As for what to expect from the shows, bassist Steve Harris said you can expect the usual over-the-top performance that Iron Maiden has become known for.

“We will, of course, be bringing the full production with us including all the Eddies and the Maya-themed stage sets,” Harris said in a statement.

“There’s been a great reaction from everyone to this tour’s theme, people really seem to love it. We’re still deciding on the final set-list and we’ll work that out once we get into rehearsals. Most of our North American fans haven’t seen the show yet so as we want to give them the same Book of Souls live experience that we took around the world, it’s unlikely we’ll change much. And of course we know our fans appreciate us playing a lot of the older songs too, so we will continue to do that!”
