The-Dream, born Terius Youngdell Nash, was raised by his grandfather in Atlanta after the death of his mother at age fifteen. Nash tends to write songs about female empowerment; a trait which he says is influenced by his mother’s death. The-Dream is the creative genius behind numerous smash hits where he is often billed as a co-writer and producer. His impressive resume lists Britney Spears’ “Me Against The Music”, Rihanna’s “Umbrella” (Grammy nominated for Song of the Year in 2008) and Beyonce’s “Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)”. He has teamed up with artists like Mariah Carey, Mary J. Blige and Usher among others.
Besides his writing and producing credits, The-Dream has also created a successful solo career. He has released five studio albums; the Love trilogy being his most successful. All three albums in the trilogy were produced by The-Dream himself, longtime partner Christopher “Tricky” Stewart and Los da Mystro. The R&B artist released his first album Love/Hate in 2007, followed by Love vs. Money which debuted at number two on the Billboard 200; and the third album, Love King was released in 2010 . The-Dream told his Instagram followers that Love Affair will be released in March of this year. The singer/songwriter’s discography also includes Terius Nash: 1977 and IV Play.
The-Dream is set to play at an event called “Soulquarious” on February 18 in Orange County The event billed as an “R&B jam” will also feature performers like R. Kelly, Erykah Badu and Jhene Aiko and more. Right after that, he’ll be performing here in Chicago.
