EDM mogul and DJ Skrillex has teamed up with his old band From First to Last to create a new song called “Make War.” On his 29 birthday, real name Sonny Moore decided to give fans a little throwback and hookup with his old emo band to make a new song that Skrillex co-wrote and produced himself. He took to his Instagram to release the song, and “Make War” is now avaliable. The song is incredibly dynamic and fast paced, throwing it back to the pop punk days of the 2000’s. It’s already racked up over 65,000 views on their YouTube post. Click below to listen to the track yourself.
There has been a little controversy regarding the song’s cover art, which looks similar to a San Francisco based band called Culture Abuse’s album cover of their album Peach. Both albums feature an image of a peach and some kind of fence, whether it be an average metal fence or barbed wire. Culture Abuse noticed the cover, and took to their social media to post a funny meme to make light of the situation. Skrillex later issued a statement on his social media, noting the incident was a complete coincidence and they’d never appropriate another artist’s work.
Skrillex has had a busy year, performing at Complex Con in 2016 alongside Kanye West and Ultra Africa Festival 2016. He also put out a song with Rick Ross called Purple Lamborghini that you can listen to here.
