Dance rock artists LCD Soundsystem spent a chunk of 2016 performing at festivals across the world after their Coachella headlining gig was announced early last year, confirming the rumors about a much anticipated band reunion. Now, they have given an update on their upcoming album, the first released content since their single “Christmas Will Break Your Heart” in 2015.
Responding to a comment on the LCD Soundsystem Facebook page, James Murphy wrote “Still working on it, but it’ll be done soon. Winter tends to mess with my voice, so finishing the thing drags out.”
Later, he responded again to another persistant fan who commented “WHERE IS THE ALBUM,” and reiterated they were “working on it!”
This year LCD Soundsytem will be hitting festival stages once again, headlining the Forecastle Festival in July and Shaky Knees Festival in May. Last year, the band killed it when they closed day one of Coachella and blew away exhilarated crowds FYF Festival.
Prior to “Christmas Will Break Your Heart,” LCD Soundsysem hadn’t released a track to the public in four years. Rumors swirled around about a reunion around the fall of 2015, and fans got the news of a lifetime when the Coachella lineup was released in January 2016. Since then they’ve been tearing up the music scene, setting precedents with their unique electronic rock sound.
Stay tuned for more news regarding their upcoming album.
