There may be a release in 2017 made by Roger Water, as currently, he is working with producer Nigel Godrich in the studio. The album is said to be due in May, with the Us + Them tour coming at the same time.
Waters and Godrich met through the movie Roger Waters: The Wall. In this movie, Godrich took the role of mixing the sound and producing.
In a recent video posted on Roger Water’s Instagram, Water plays a couple of bass notes which could be used in one of the songs in the album. The video is shown below.
In Uncut, the artist commented about the tour and the album saying “We are going to take a new show on the road, the content is very secret. It’ll be a mixture of stuff from my long career, stuff from my years with Pink Floyd, some new things. Probably 75% of it will be old material and 25% will be new, but it will be all connected by a general theme. It will be a cool show, I promise you. It’ll be spectacular like all my shows have been.”
According to Consequence of Sound, in a interview with Rolling Stone, Water talks about the new 12 song solo album describing it as “part magic carpet ride, part political rant, part anguish.” The artist has said that the theme of the love using the story line of a long piece that was a radio play about a old Irishman who is babysitting his granddaughter.
