Toronto based rapper JAHKOY is joining R&B queen Kehlani on her Sweet Sexy Savage Tour this spring and he’s an opening act you do not want to miss. He’s making a stop at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium later this year on June 18th. Fellow openers will be Noodle and Ella Mai.
JAHKOY’s sound is hitting that sweet spot where he can switch his musical medium between rapping and R&B. He’s versatile and letting his music speak to that. His chops are impressive and he’s only going to go up from here. The dude put out his first studio album in 2015 entitled Foreign Water which has the hits California Heaven, F N Sexy, and 1000 Times. Previous to that he dropped some rad singles like Still In Love, Poison, and Odd Future. He’s young, but this dude is talented. His beats are bumping and keeps its fresh, his songs are full of energy which is supplied by the beat which layers with his sick vocals. One of his singles, also one of his hits, Want To Hold Your Hard was inspired by fellow musicians (and icons) The Beatles’ song I Wanna Hold Your Hand, which shows that he can pay homage to the greats even in a vastly different genre and make an iconic song modern.
This kid is a perfect compliment to be on Kehlani’s tour because the two are pulling out a similar style of music where they are blending the lines between R&B with slow jam rap. Fans of the aforementioned Kehlani, Tyus, and The Weeknd will be down to get to know JAHKOY and hit up his show. He’s got the right moves to make it big, so hit click and watch as this dude tear it up on the stage.
