English singer-songwriter Laura Marling is back with a new single called “Wild Fire.” The track comes from the 26 year old’s forthcoming sixth album, Semper Fina. The track follows a loose, lyrical thread of feminine exploration. It apparently drops a revealing light on an unspecified ‘muse’ of Laura’s, and sweeps in and out of focus on how the acclaimed musician views femininity as the years pass. It’s not a full concept album per se, but the story will unravel and reaffirm itself throughout the duration of the record.
“Wild Fire” is the second single to come from the upcoming album; it is preceded by “Soothing,” whose thorough video introduced Laura behind the camera lens as her directorial debut. Apparently, sequels to the music video will come along throughout the album’s unveiling.
Marling will perform as a musical guest on the esteemed Chris Thile-hosted A Prairie Home Companion this upcoming Saturday, January 14th. The show will be broadcast live between 5pm – 7pm from The Symphony Theater in Chicago. Laura will be joining Thile, Andrew Bird and Beth Stelling on the night’s bill.
After beginning to record at the age of 16, Laura was only 20 years old when, in 2011, she was awarded the UK’s Grammy equivalent BRIT Award for Best British Solo Female Artist. Semper Fina features mature and raw songwriting by a well-recognized talented young musician. Following the release of Semper Femina, Laura will be hitting the road in support of it.
