Big Ears Festival has announced its full, expanded 2017 lineup, headlined by Tortoise, Wilco, and Xiu Xiu. The annual Knoxville, TN festival will be held from March 23-26 in downtown Knoxville.
While Big Ears Festival previously announced the majority of its lineup, festival organizers announced tantalizing additional performers earlier today. While Wilco were already confirmed as headliners, two Wilco offshoots are among the newly announced lineup members. Frontman Jeff Tweedy will perform an improv set alongside Chikamorachi (Chris Corsano and Darin Gray) and keyboardist Mikael Jorgensen is presenting his ‘Quindar’ project with art historian and curator James Merle Thomas. Festival organizers already announced Wilco drummer Glenn Kotche will perform with side project On Fillmore.
Other than Wilco-related performers, Arcade Fire drummer Jeremy Gara is the biggest name amongst newly announced lineup members. Notable, non-headlining acts announced last year include Blonde Redhead, Deerhoof, My Brightest Diamond, and The Magnetic Fields.
Single day tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday and range from $49.50 to $99.50 plus fees. Weekend passes range from $50 (for a film program pass) to $550 plus fees.
