Known best by his stage name, Robb Banks (stylized as Robb Bank$), Richard Burrell is an American rapper from Broward County, Florida. Initially, Burrell was born in New York City, however he moved to Florida at the age of six, where he remained for most his life. His debut album, Year of the Savage, released in 2015.
From a young age, Burrell was discouraged from embracing hip hop due to the negative reputation of other rappers he knew had. Although, in 2011 he traveled to New York City to record music and eventually he decided to pursue a career in music. Everybody Except Monday, released shortly after, under the side project Tuesday thru Thursday with the help of rapper Matt Mayer Lansky. Burrell released his first solo mixtape, Calendars, in 2012. The album featured Burrell rapping over beats and samples from popular musicians such as SBTRKRT, Aaliyah, and Outkast. Robb Banks is known for sampling everything from old school R&B to Japanese anime–notably Naruto, which he claims is his favorite.
Robb Banks will perform at Empire Control Room on the 27th of this month for his Death of My Teenage Tour.
