A Perfect Circle @ The Hollywood Bowl 5/7

LA based rock supergroup A Perfect Circle his hitting the road once again for the first time since 2011, bringing with them their powerful yet oddly soothing sound and lyrics.   After 2004 saw the release of their album “eMOTIVe” the group went on hiatus to work on separate projects, most notably Maynard James Keenan’s work with Tool and Puscifer.  The group has also said have began work on a new album.

Over time, A Perfect Circle has had a rotating cast of musicians due to the nature of the industry.  As Keenan puts it “The real problem with running Tool and A Perfect Circle at the same time was they both operate the same way.  They’re both live touring bands with a label, still working under the old contract mentality,”  As told to Revolver in 2007.  This statement also alludes to the changes that started to take place in the 2000’s, when pirating and downloading music had taken reigns over buying physical albums.

The new lineup consists of founders Maynard James Keenan and Billy Howerdel with James Ira of the Smashing Pumpkins, Matt McJunkins of Ashes Divide and Puscifer (also touring with Eagles of Death Metal) and Jeff Friedl of Puscifer.  It is only fitting the band conclude it’s North American tour here in their backyard at Hollywood Bowl on May 7.
