Columbia Records has announced the release of a new EP of David Bowie material, released on what would have been the legendary music icon’s 70th birthday. The digital album can be purchased on iTunes. The four song collection features Bowie’s last known recordings before his death last year.
Included with this collection are three new songs, “No Plan,” “Killing A Little Time,” and “When I Met You.” Rounding out the EP is “Lazarus” from Blackstar. This is the first time the songs will be offered in a stand-alone release, though they were part of the cast album for Lazarus. The songs were culled from the sessions that lead to Bowie’s swan-song Blackstar, one 2016’s best albums.
A video for the title track from the EP has also been released. The song is clearly from the same lineage as songs like “Lazarus” and “Blackstar,” opening with simple, jazzy arpeggios and embellished with keyboards, brass and strings. The simple piece is a psuedo-lyric video, depicting two young men staring into a storefront window, watching the lyrics to the song displayed on the televisions within.
