The Texas-natives’ discography promise the most beautiful, tear-inducing symphonies for the wearisome and alone, out there: but for more than just the contemplative, Explosions In The Sky awaken subconsious meaderings, and bring light through music to previously darkened corners of any given mind. Explosions, upon a pre-sleep listening to, often play out in some of the best REM cycles, for those who tend towards the more “lucid” side of things. The group’s subtle, intricate palatte of sound is like food to the brain, or a phone call from your sibling on the other side of the country: it just does something that can’t be easily immitated.
However, while the studio recordings are, without a doubt, perfect—Explosions In The Sky have garnered a reputation for putting on some of the best live performances out there. So, while the group is most-likely following up the 2016 release of The Wilderness with more touring, take advantage of the host of performances while they are here, and give yourself some much needed time off, i.e. a personal health day, and treat the body, mind, and soul to a expected exceptional night out on the town in your nearest city.
