Kid Koala, aka Eric San, just released a new song from his upcoming fifth album Music To Draw To: Satellite, an ambient track called “Collapser” that features guest vocals from Emilíana Torrini.

Earlier this week San teased some of the new music on his Twitter account, but this is the first full song to be released from the record. Check out the song below:

Music To Draw To: Satellite will be released on January 20, 2017 via Arts and Crafts. The album features numerous contributions from the Icelandic singer Torrini, appearing on seven of the album’s 18 tracks.

San had this to say about the decision to collaborate with Torrini:

“Emilíana Torrini is one of my favourite singers in the world. I’ve been following her work since her first album. She’s just got one of those singular voices that has captivated me for years. Even when she is singing at whisper quiet levels, it’s enough to crack your heart open. I’m so honoured to have had the chance to work with her on this record.”

The record is the inaugural release in what will be an ongoing “Music to Draw To” series. Unlike San’s previous work which solidified his reputation as one of the top sound collage artists in the world, Music To Draw To: Satellite will be his first non-sample based work. San used synthesizers, guitars, keyboards, strings, and of course, turntables to create the lush soundscapes found on what is sure to be regarded as a milestone for the already-accomplished electronic musician.

In related Kid Koala news, San announced a concert in conjunction with the release of this record. Unlike any typical tour, the draw of this “Satellite” tour is that everyone in the audience will participate in the show with their own turntable. Each member of the audience will be seated at their own turntable station with specialized custom-cut Satellite Orchestra Tone Vinyl records vinyl and effects pedals, becoming an integral part of the performance.

UPDATE (11/12): An official video has been released for “Collapser” featuring Emilíana Torrini. Find it below.
