American indie folk act Bon Iver has just announced that he will be cancelling his upcoming European tour, as well as his scheduled appearance on US radio show A Prairie Home Companion due to personal reasons.
The Justin Vernon-led outfit were supposed to begin their European live shows later this month on January 22, playing shows all across the continent until finishing in London.
The decision is cited as due to “personal reasons” in the tweet, and the message states that Vernon and co offer their “deepest apologies to all of our fans”. All tickets for the tour will be refunded at point of purchase, and none of the cancelled tour dates are planning to be rescheduled. The statement concludes: “We will be back.”
The tweet does not address the band’s planned festival gigs, including Coachella in California, Primavera Sound in Spain, Forbidden Fruit Festival in Dublin, NOS Primavera Sound in Portugal and Rock the Garden in Minneapolis. It seems as though these dates are still intact at the moment.
Bon Iver released 22, A Million in September of last year to great critical acclaim, even being awarded a Grammy nomination for Best Alternative Music Album.
