The funk rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers is coming to Oakland this winter and will play the Oracle Arena in March. The show’s opener is Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, who is another musical genius.
The Red Hot Chili Peppers are a staple rock band of the California music scene. The band was formed in 1986 in Los Angeles and has retained original members singer Anthony Kiedis and eccentric bassist Flea since its inception. Last year (2016) band dropped their most recent album The Getaway. The album is known for the hits Dark Necessities and The Getaway. Previous to The Getaway, the band had maintained major and mainstream success with their ability to keep their funk/punk sound fresh. Their biggest and best known songs are Californication and Scar Tissue from their 1999 (more than 15 years ago!) album Californication, the songs Dani California and Snow (Hey Oh) from their 2006 release Stadium Arcadium, and their 2002 album By The Way’s hits Can’t Stop and The Zephyr Song, a personal favorite. This band has been rocking for the past 30 years and they have a long list of hits, but those are the most commercially successful songs that can still be heard on the radio today. The band’s unique and true rock-funk sound coupled with Kiedis’ extraordinary vocals. The band’s sound is unique due to Kiedis’ unique voice because it’s instantly recognizable with his style of melodically driven songs coupled with his rapping talents backed by the insane talent of the rest of the band.
This band is going to offer an experience of a lifetime. The band was recently inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012. Their wealth of talent has allowed for this group to keep it’s rock credibility, but still hit and maintain mainstream success. For a quick preview check out their appearance in Car Pool Karaoke on the Late Late Show with James Corden. It’s a fun and wild look into the band’ dynamics and acoustic chops; the almost 30 million hits on YouTube will give you a great reason to check out the personable band.
