Make sure to check out Ty Segall when he comes to Wrigleyville this spring. Sometimes called a musician with no boundaries, the young California born and raised singer/songwriter’s music is generally described as garage rock. However, he is known to explore acoustic, lo-fi and experimental progressive rock and credits many sources of inspiration.
The multi-instrumentalist began his solo career in Orange County and the Bay Area with early inspiration coming from glam rockers like David Bowie (without the getup – think more grunge). His sound progressed over the years and has become a lot more mellow (now think The Beatles and Neil Young). Segall has released an astounding eight successful albums since 2008; his self-titled LP is set to drop next month.
Live show reviews reveal that Segall doesn’t take himself too seriously onstage and has a playful style. He engages with his audience to make the experience more intimate, he puts on high energy shows despite his laid back demeanor. There’s no doubt Wrigleyville is in for a good show.
