Nashville natives, Free Throw, are an emo rock out that has attained relative success over the past few years–the five-piece band has dropped two EP’s and one full- length album, paving the way for national tours and a dedicated following of fans. Free Throw is comprised of Cory Castro (vocals), Lawrence Warner (guitar), Jake Hughes (guitar/vocals), Justin Castro (bass), and Kevin Garcia (drums). Initially known as Longliers, the group eventually went on to change their name to Free Throw–due to another local band with a similar name.
Each member of the group was playing for different bands at the time, and eventually came together to escape the stresses of their respective bands, and play the type of music they wanted. Although, due to positive online response from fans, their side project would become a full-time endeavor. Their debut album, These Days Are Gone, released in 2014 through Count Your Lucky Stars Records. With the success of their debut, Free Throw had the opportunity to tour with bands such as Empire! Empire! (I Was A Lonely Estate), and Tiny Moving Parts.
As for the future of the group, Free Throw are looking to release new material in early 2017. In the meantime, you can see them live at the Sidewinder on February 4th.
