Indie rock favorites, Deerhunter, have made a quite name for themselves in the music scene–their prolific discography, along with their lengthy years in the industry, have earned them fans worldwide. Deerhunter’s latest effort, Fading Frontier, continued their trend of quality releases, and received acclaim from fans and critics alike.
Deerhunter was founded by vocalist Bradford Cox and drummer/keyboardist Moses Archuleta in 2001. What was thought to be a temporary art project, eventually gave way to a full-fledged band. Their debut record, Turn It Up Faggot, released in 2005, and was the only album to feature original bassist Justin Bosworth, who died in 2004. Shortly after their debut, Cox’s former high school friend–guitarist Locket Pundt–joined the band. 2010 was a particularly successful year for the group, as they had released their fan favorite, fifth studio album, Halcyon Digest. The album also became their first release on 4AD records. Halcyon Digest received rave reviews from critics, and even attained the number 37 spot on Billboards 200 list.
Don’t miss out on Deerhunter next month when they perform at the Mohawk on the 31st.
