The countdown is on for Mexico City’s 18 annual Vive Latino – Festival Iberoamericano de Cultura Musical and the lineup has officially been released. In exactly 82 days (courtesy of the festival’s website) festival attendee’s will be able to catch their favorite artists including Brujeria, Justice, and Foxygen. The two day festival will also boast of rap artist G-Eazy and Spanish pop rock band Hombres G, along with other popular artists from around the globe who’s music genre’s vary. The festival will open on March 18 and tickets are available now for purchase under the “Boletos” tab on the website. For those planning to attend the festival, there is no food or drink allowed inside so make sure to bring some cash for the awesome Mexican and American food the festival will be offering off fairgrounds.
In the festival’s rich 18-year history beginning in 1998 (Skipping 1999 & 2002), many artists from Latin America, the U.S. and all over the world has had the chance to perform at the music and culture festival, including Sepultura, The Chemical Brothers, and the Wailers. While the festival primarily presents rock artists, they are open to every and any music genres to add to their set-list. This method of having a variety of artists has proved successful every year, except for the exception in 2007 when a reggae band was forced off stage by the public after being booed and hit with objects thrown by the crowd. However the setback was just one road-bumb in the Vive Latino Festival’s history and has had widely diverse acts ever since.
Vive Latino headliner Brujeria is no stranger to festival stages, as he performed at California Deathfest this year and Festival NRML in 2013. The Mexican-American metal band recently released their fourth studio album Poncho Aztlan and released the poster for the new album promotion tour, which featured a picture of Donald Trump with a knife slicing through his head. Hopefully fans can expect the same brutal energy on stage in Mexico City on March 18 during day two of the upcoming festival.
French electronic Duo Justice will be headlining several festivals in 2017 including the Dour Festival in Belgium, Sonar Festival in Barcelona and Ultra Music Festival in Miami, FL. Justice has released several music videos before the year’s end including “Fire” in November and “Alakazam” in October.
