People who pay the ten-dollar, monthly subscription for Spotify (like myself), can now feel a little bit more vested by their, well, investment. For, modern-day rockstars the Black Keys have officially put all of (okay, most of) their discography on the free-streaming application.
For those out there who didn’t know, the Black Keys, especially over the past five years, have been pretty open and outspoken about their suspicion aimed towards streaming services such as Spotify. However, Patrick Carney, one-half of the Black Keys, says, “I’d rather people hear our music than not.”
Fair enough, Patrick Carney.
According to Consequence of Sound, “As of now, 2011’s El Camino is the only Black Keys album not streaming on Spotify, though the album singles “Lonely Boy”, “Gold on the Ceiling”, and “Little Black Submarines” are. The availability of the band’s music goes down as another win for Spotify in 2016; back in November, the last hold outs of Radiohead’s discography were added to the streaming service.”
But, to be fair, for those who feel a little confused by the recent move, Carney and the Black Keys still remain “apprehensive” about sharing their music on Spotify…whatever that means.
So what are you waiting for? Go stream the s*** out of the Black Keys, before they change their mind.
