Christmas has come a little early this month for fans of Trent Reznor’s work.
Today the legendary industrial band Nine Inch Nails released the song “Burning Bright (Field on Fire),” and man is it heavy. The track is sludgy, thick, and pounding, with droning guitars and dense hits of static dragging the listener in a trance, albeit an abrasive one. Mr. Reznor himself comes in with a sort of singing monologue, repeating the mantra “break through the surface and (breath),” guiding the listener through the suffocating and drowning walls of sound.
The track is a part of their upcoming EP, Not the Actual Events, which was recently announced this past week and is due out tomorrow on December 23, giving you just enough time to get in a last minute pre-order. Longtime collaborator Atticus Ross lends his talents to the upcoming EP as a now-official member of the band.
In addition to the upcoming EP, fans can also look forward to the Limited Edition Four Disc The Fragile: Deviations 1, which contains tons of music and bonus content from Reznor and Ross and is out today. Be sure to check out the explosive new track below and get your Apple Music accounts ready for tomorrow.
