Everyone’s favorite songstress Regina Spektor is coming to the Bay in April and she’s bringing along some new tunes! Recently, Spektor dropped her latest album Remember Us To Life in September. The album’s hit singles were Bleeding Heart and Small Bill$, both with over 2 million hits on Spotify. She’s playing the Greek Theatre over in Berkeley.
Spektor is best known for her angelic, yet dimensional voice and her piano chops. Her eclectic lyrics make for fascinating songs and her beautiful piano skills are on point for every performance. Along with her recently dropped album, Spektor was featured on the massively popular The Hamilton Mixtape which was put out by Lin-Manuel Miranda of the Broadway production. She sang Dear Theodosia featuring Ben Folds and man, let me tell you, she killed it. One of the coolest parts of her songs, besides her versatile voice, are her lyrics which are masterfully woven with literary allusions. For example, in her hit Samson, she’s referring to the bible character Samson and his love affair with Delilah; in Pound of Flesh she alludes to famous poets William Shakespeare and Ezra Pound.
Her biggest hits include the aforementioned Samson, but also, Fidelity from her album Begin To Hope, and Eet from her album Far. Fans of Ingrid Michaelson and Kate Nash will be into this show for the sweet sounding voice of Spektor. The versatility of Regina Spektor’s voice, her beautifully crafted lyrics, and her incredible piano skills will make for the perfect date night. So, grab your tickets and get lost in the sweet, sweet, sound of Spektor’s voice.
