Approximately 35 years ago, Brian Slagel was living in suburban Los Angeles working in a local record store. At this point in his life he aspired to increase the recognition of local metal bands. This was the beginning of the Metal Blade Records phenomenon.
Founded in 1982, Metal Blade Records has expanded immensely in the past (almost) 35 years. The main office headquarters for this record label is located in Agoura Hills, California. However, they have expanded other offices in places like Germany, Japan and the UK. Not only do they have a wide variety and long list of metal bands but also many of whom they’re signed with has hit the Billboard 200 chart. Past and present bands they were signed with who made the charts include The Goo Goo Dolls, As I Lay Dying, Job for a Cowboy, Whitechapel, Between the Buried and Me plus many others.
Celebrating the upcoming 35th anniversary of Metal Blade Records: Whitechapel, Cattle Decapitation, Goatwhore and Allegaeon have teamed up to perform a winter tour together honoring their record label.
Beginning with the musical lineup: Whitechapel, described as an American deathcore band all the way from Tennessee. The band was founded in 2006 by the vocalist Phil Bozeman and guitarist Ben Savage. Since then, they have released six studio albums and eleven music videos. Originally, the band was named after the Whitechapel District located in East London, England—the site in which Jack The Ripper committed a series of murders.
Moving forward, we have Cattle Decapitation: an American deathgrind band from San Diego, California. They were formed in 1996 and have released seven albums. Goatwhore whom was founded in 1997 is defined as an American extreme metal band from New Orleans, Louisiana. Goatwhore is known for their use of lyrical themes. All morbid themes of course they spice lyrics up categorically-from Satanism, witchcraft, Anti-Christianity, Armageddon and The Holocaust. Last but not least, performing at the honorary 35th anniversary tour is Allegaeon. Allegaeon is an American death metal band formed most recently in 2008. They are originally from Fort Collins, Colorado. Allegaeon has released four studio albums and one EP. Alternatively to other death metal bands however, Allegaeon incorporates various types of musical influences: Classical music, progressive metal and thrash metal. In doing so, they have accomplished to retain the genre of death metal. Check out the list of tour dates below!
