LA avant-rap trio clipping. have shared a disturbing post-apocalyptic video based on the entirety of new album Splendor & Misery. Instead of using music from the album, the video features a stark, industrial score.
Patrick Kennedy (“Body & Blood”) directed the video. The ambitious production attempts to encapsulate the full scope of Splendor & Misery, a concept LP about space travel and alienation in a dark Afro-futurist dystopia. Group members William Hutson and Jonathan Snipes make appearances in the video alongsidecreen with wolves, shotguns, futuristic torture devices, an escaped-convict mime who foams at the mouth, and a baby in clown makeup. clipping. released Splendor & Misery on September 9, 2016 via Sub Pop and Deathbomb Arc. The album marks their second studio LP and first since 2014’s CLPPING.
The trio are currently on tour in Europe–their forthcoming London show at Corsica Studios on 20th December has now sold out and a second night at the same venue has now been added. The trio will also support the Flaming Lips on the acid rockers upcoming 2017 North American tour.
