Electronic producer, Eric Alberto-Lopez– known by the moniker, Ape Drums –blends EDM with tropical, Caribbean sounds to create a distinctive, modern, dancehall vibe. What initially started as a duo, became Lopez’ solo project Ape Drums. Looking for a way to differentiate himself from the growing number of EDM DJ’s, Lopez began experimenting with various sounds and styles of music.

The Houston native was looking to produce a new, but familiar sound, that people could dance and groove to. Being a fan traditional dancehall music, Lopez began to incorporate elements of the genre to his standard, EDM style– showcasing a fresh take on both EDM and tropical dancehall. “Bashment,” Ape Drums debut single, was released in 2014 through Slow Roast Records. Lopez’ musical career attained great success over the past few years, due to collaborations and tours with Major Lazer and Chase & Status. Ape Drums also collaborated with fellow Houston artist, Lil Uzi Vert, for the 2016 single, “LFUTP.”

Ape Drums will be playing at Kingdom Nightclub next month on the 12^th.
