LISTEN: At The Drive-In Release First New Song in 16 Years “Governed By Contagions”

Acclaimed post-hardcore pioneers At The Drive-In have released their first new material since they took a “hiatus” that eventually turned into a full-fledged break-up. Titled “Governed By Contagions,” the song was released today on the band’s website. The sound wouldn’t be out of place on their final record, Relationship of Command, though the absence of recently-departed guitarist and co-vocalist Jim Ward is fairly noticeable on the track. According to Consequence of Sound, the song will be included on a new full-length album that will be produced by Omar Rodriguez-Lopez and Rich Costey (Santigold, Muse, Fiona Apple).

Despite breaking up and splitting into various factions like The Mars Volta and Sparta, the band has come back together for a few reunions. The most recent included a spring tour through the United States and festival appearances like their first show in three years (at the time) at Rock on the Range in Columbus, Ohio.
