New Music Venue Called Brooklyn Steel to Open in Williamsburg, Spring of 2017!

Watch out, Brooklyn! A new 20,000 foot music venue is due to open in Williamsburg in 2017—the biggest venue in the neighborhood with a capacity of 1,800. The venue (closest to the Graham L train) will feature hundreds of tons of steel throughout, a main bar made of scrap metal and designed with three industrial fans (reused from the previous space), repurposed materials, 40 bathrooms, original window frames, as well as a five-ton hook that will turn into an art installation from a local artist. It will also have a 10,000 square-foot green rooftop to absorb noise and keep the sound inside the space.

But at Brooklyn Steel, regardless of the venue’s impressive aesthetic and capacity, music will always be the main highlight. According to the venue’s press release, as said by partners at Bowery Presents, John Moore and Jim Glancy, “With every venue we open, we aim to create a space where both fans and bands can fully enjoy the experience; from easy access to bars and restrooms, to unobstructed sightlines and state-of-the-art sound and acoustics, we’re confident that Brooklyn Steel delivers on our commitment to keep the music first.”

The venue already has a wicked lineup, with bands like the Pixies, Animal Collective, Two Door Cinema Club and The Decemberists already scheduled to headline. But that’s just the beginning of an undoubtedly stellar continuation of great lineups. Music and Brooklyn just go together like that (especially when a cool space is involved that just so happens to be the biggest GA venue in Brooklyn).
