Enigmatic R&B star Frank Ocean announced earlier today a string of summer tour dates in support of recently released albums Endless and Blonde. The performances will mark his first live appearances in over three years.
Initially, Ocean announced only two overseas performances, headlining Danish festival NorthSide on June 9 and London festival Lovebox on July 14. Later in the day, he revealed to Consequence of Sound he will additionally headline three American music festivals: Hangout Music Festival in Gulf Shores, AL; Sasquatch! Music Festival in Quincy, WA; and the Panorama Music Festival in New York, NY. According to Lovebox, Ocean will make two further U.K. based festival appearances next year.
Ocean hinted at an upcoming tour an interview with The New York Times earlier this month.
“I need to know how many records I’ve sold, how many album equivalents from streaming, which territories are playing my music more than others, because it helps me in conversations about where we’re gonna be playing shows,” Ocean said.
Ocean is currently embroiled in an ongoing suit with former representatives Def Jam and Universal Music Group. The label sued Ocean for breach of contract, claiming Ocean’s self-release of Blonde violated a standing record deal. The Associated Press subsequently reported that a source close to Ocean claimed the label released Ocean from his contract prior to Blonde’s release.
