With a sonic resemblance to James brown, Lee Fields has had an active and incredibly busy career spanning over 43 years; his uncanny similarities to James Brown have even earned him the nickname “Little J.B.” Fields. Despite critic’s constant references to James Brown, Fields embraces those similarities, feeling honored for the comparisons to one of the world’s greatest entertainers. Recently, Fields has gained a rather large following, likely due to the reissuing of his previous albums through “Truth and Soul Records.” The label is also responsible for his collaboration with The Expressions, who have worked with him on his most recent albums, My World and Faithful Man.
Fields continues to grow in popularity; he, along with Charles Bradley and the recently deceased Sharon Jones, likely played a part in the decade’s resurgence of soul & funk music. What keeps Fields going, is his intense passion for music and live performance, along with his love for audience interaction. Continuing to add to his hefty discography of over 15 albums, Fields and The Expressions are always working on new material.
Spend New Year’s Eve with Lee Fields and the Expressions, and end this dreary year with some much-needed fun. Field’s electric, high energy shows will have you dancing and grooving when he– along with The Expressions –perform next month at Lambert’s Downtown Barbeque.
