Yesterday brought about speculation as Phoenix updated their social media profiles alongside their website giving us hopes that they are getting prepared to release a new record. Bilbao BBK Live, the Spanish music festival, officially announced the new additions to the 2017 line up with Phoenix as one of the headliners. This festival will be the bands first show since 2014 when they toured with Bankrupt!
The event will take place July 6-8, 2017. The lineup so far includes other acts like Depeche Mode, Daphni, Die Antwood, Andrew Weatherall, Two Door Cinema Club, DJ Tennis, Marvin & Guy, and Fleet Foxes.
The French rock band’s last appearance was about 3 years ago for the new album Bankrupt! This album came after their last album titled Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix that was released back in 2009. With Bankrupt! the band started to stray away from the pop sounds from the last album, and tried a more experimental route that proved to show the versatility of the band.
UPDATE (3/1): Phoenix has announced additional dates for their 2017 Summer tour via a teaser video with a snippet of a new song.
