Earlier this week, Beligian electronic duo Soulwax released a new track, “Transient Program for Drums and Machinery”. The track marks their second release since last winter’s release of the soundtrack for Belgian film Belgica.

Though “Transient Program for Drums and Machinery” clocks in at over eight minutes, it wastes little space. The track enters with multiple synth layers, a twitchy organic synth line and an airy, more traditional synth. Repetitious vocals accompany the production.

The track eventually branches into Depeche Mode-like mechanized percussion, steadily building to an up-tempo, lurching crescendo. The track employs familiar sounds, wearing its New Order and Kraftwork inspired rhythms on its sleeve. The track works well nevertheless. “Transient Program for Drums and Machinery” is available for free download on the band’s website.

In addition to the track release, Soulwax announced a European tour set to kick off in 2017. Their live band will consist of seven touring members, including original band member Stefaan Van Leuven on bass guitar & synth. Notably, Sepultura and MIXHELL drummer Iggor Cavalera will be one of three drummers in the live band.

In addition to Soulwax, brothers David and Stephen Dewaele continue to tour as 2manydjs and produce for others via their DEEWEE record label and studio. Their last album, Belgica, was their first full-length release of original material in 11 years.
