There are not many festivals who can secure Neil Young, The Prodigy, Die Antwoord, Jane’s Addiction and Biffy Clyro all in the same year, much less all in its first year, but Mad Cool Festival did exactly that last year in 2016. Set in the urban heart of Spain, Madrid, the festival is a perfect place to enjoy the city for both regular city-goers and rock fans alike.

In addition to the humongous outdoor installations as its mainstages, the festival will also have 3 more within the Caja Mágica. The event is getting ready to blow its previous years’ success out of the water by becoming even bigger and better.

The event features primarily rock and pop acts, thus far securing major acts like the Foo Fighters, Green Day, Kings of Leon, Alt-J, Belle & Sebastian, and Wolf Alice for the summer of 2017. “Line of Best Fit” reviewed last year’s festival as a European Coachella, “but in the Madrid sun without the annoying famous people showing off their outfits.”

In addition to the worldwide acts, Mad Cool also showcases a variety of local artists, many of whom you’ve probably never heard about because they mostly sing in the language of the land: Spanish. Last year featured great Spanish bands like Vetusta Morla, Lori Meyers, Xoel López or León Benavente. There was was even a stage specifically for newer Spanish artists like Los Nastys and Iseo.

Tickets for the event cost 145€ for the 3 day event, and 330€ for VIP tickets for the entire festival. VIPs receive access to the front stage area, the VIP area, a Relax area with an exclusive bar and catering service, an exclusive lane entrance, a welcome pack, an exclusive information phone number for VIP clients, screens to watch the shows live, and VIP parking.
