Boston, Massachusetts has always been the setting for the nation’s most historic cases of rebel-rousing. From the city’s historic dump of imported English tea into it’s harbor, to the eventual harbinger and epicenter of the Revolutionary War. Now in the wake of an “unexpected” president elect, with not-so progressive “platforms” on pro-choice legislation, Boston, yet again, offers it’s constitutional right to call out bullshit. Although the New England waterways of this historic city may not be quite an aromatic, brownish hue so closely related to it’s most influential and earliest protest, it’s city streets are stained with the opposing views of current women’s rights debates, and their ardent citizens are telling everyone through the best way they could—
According to reports from Pitchfork, protest and relief comes thanks to the city’s united (and highly underrated) music scene.
So, local boss town label, Run For Cover Records, home to artists such as Pinegrove and Modern Baseball, is asking their listeners to search for some deeper pockets in the upcoming days. The label opens up their artist catalog by way of it’s bandcamp under a “pay-what-you-want” asking price. The campaign to raise and fund runs through November 13th (so time is running out fast). The label then promises to match all earnings for their stellar mix of artists on their label repertoire (up to $5,000), and donate all of the proceeds to Planned Parenthood.
While Run For Cover dishes their own “call to action” up a little more Gandhi, a little less violent: i.e. passive protest— the message is clear: Boston wants their ladies to have the proper resources in an effort to secure fair chance and choice for the all of the strong, independent women the city accommodates. But, the progressive wheels of female rights and female necessities beckons an unstoppable motion forward. Those who wish can help support the cause while also enjoying the mountainous array of new and very, very cool artists from Boston and beyond.
