2016 has been a tough year for the world of music lovers. Legends like Prince and David Bowie have passed away this year. Yesterday, unfortunately another legend passed away. Loenard Cohen composer of “Hallelujah” dies in Los Angeles, CA.
One of the moments that tends to happen when an artist passes away is their music is discovered by those who have not heard it before. Also, tributes are expected when an artist has had such a succesful and storied career.
According to SPIN, John Cale is preparing to re-release his 1992 album Fragments of a Rainy Season. To promote the upcoming re-release Cale put out a video of him covering Leonard Cohen’s classic song “Hallelujah”. The video opens with with words from Shakespear’s Macbeth and Joahn Cale playing a piano that is covered with bugs. The video also includes Arlene Deradoorian, the daughter of the musician Angel Deradoorian.
The video was first released on November 2nd, but has since drawn much more attention due to the death of Leonard Cohen eight days later.
