Merchandise Cancels Tour After Frontman’s Injury

Unfortunate news for the alternative rock band fans of Merchandise, because according to Pitchfork, the band has been forced to cut the rest of their support tour for their newest A Corpse Wired For Sound LP, released earlier this year.

The tour, which was supposed to take place on the West Coast and Europe, had to come to a sudden halt after frontman Carson Cox’s injury. In a statement they made, the band wrote that Cox “lost consciousness” and fell while backstage after performing at a recent show in England. In doing so he caused a fracture in his jaw, several broken teeth, and possible concussion symptoms. Below is the full statement the band shared on their Facebook page yesterday Morning:

“EU / West Coast Tour Cancelled!! – On November 5th, after the Leeds gig, Carson lost consciousness and had a fall backstage. After multiple tests, we think it was due to exhaustion and nothing more serious. During his fall, he hit his chin badly breaking several teeth and fractured his jaw. The band is currently in London waiting to see a specialist who will be advising the next course of treatment for repairing his jaw. Unfortunately, this means all scheduled gigs in Europe and the US are not happening. Carson is expected to make a full recovery and we plan on making up the shows as best as we can in Spring 2017. Thanks in advance for your friendship, support and understanding. Needless to say we are incredibly disappointed, but will be back soon! — wMerchandise”

Cox is currently seeing a specialist, and is “expected to make a full recovery” as the group wrote. Merchandise intends to reschedule their promised concerts for the upcoming 2017 Spring season. It will be nice to see the group get back on the road after an unpleasant hardship slowed down their impressive pace.
