Austra has recently announced dates for a winter tour, which will support the artist’s upcoming album. The album, Future Politics, will be released on January 20, 2017.
According to the press release, “Future Politics is a collection of urgent, but disciplined anthems for dancefloor and headphones, asks each of us to remember that apocalypse is not an inevitability, but the product of human decision-making. It aims for a world without borders, where human compassion and curiosity drive technological innovation rather than profit, where the necessity of labor is replaced with time for creativity and personal growth, and the terror and destruction wrought by colonialism and white supremacy is recognized as a dark age in human history.”
The tour will start in Toronto, Ontario in the middle of January and end in Detroit, Michigan in the middle of February. After the show in Durham, North Carolina, the artist will be supported by The Range, except on the date in Chicago, Illinois. There will only be two dates in Canada. Between these dates, there are very few times where the band takes a break from the tour.
Its been two years since Austra has been working on an album. The last album the artist released was in 2014, called Habitat.
