Californian indie rock duo Foxygen just announced that they will be releasing their fourth official studio LP Hang on January 20th via Jagjaguwar.
The Los Angeles pair consisting of Jonathan Rado and Sam France presents their uncanny knack for pulling together a plethora of diverse influences to a singular yet elaborate vision. And for once, they’ve gone entirely big band. Every single track on Hang features a 40-plus-piece symphony orchestra arranged and conducted by Trey Pollard with additional arranging from Matthew E. White. Additionally, Hang was recorded with the brother rhythm section duo of Brian and Michael D’Addario, aka the Lemon Twigs, and features Steven Drozd of the Flaming Lips on select tracks.
Along with the announcement came the release of lead single, “Follow the Leader” and an accompanying music video. “Follow The Leader” is one of the album’s most upbeat songs; it was described by the band as “a blast to make! It’s a positive anthem, with some lyrical scenarios we don’t quite understand.”
Foxygen will also be heading out on a cross country North American tour in support of the album, and their shows in London and Brooklyn have already been sold out. So any fans should jump on the chance to watch Foxygen live as soon as possible.
