WATCH: Amanda Palmer Releases Stop-Motion Video For “Wynken, Blynken & Nod”

“Wynken, Blynken & Nod” is the title of the new video of Amanda’s Palmer. The video holds interesting visuals that are almost like an odd cartoon and in stop-motion, having 2-dimensional images and drawings along with movement. However, this is not the first video of the song for Amanda Palmer, instead it is a special Halloween version.

The song and video start with the noises of nature, full of chirps, the hisses of the wind, and an eerie ringing. The moon and a tree is shown just before the solemn guitar sound and nighttime bells kick in. At this point, a drawing of a young boy sleeping in a bed too large for him comes across the screen. The vocals start with “winkin’, blinkin’ and nod one night…” as a book is opened, implying the start of a bedtime story with an eerie tone.

The story is about nature and a fisherman along an unlikely journey. The drawings throughout the video show small representations of the setting and characters the lyrics convey, yet there are also small abstractions that leave the viewer to interpret it freely. The tale of the song concludes as it begin, with the lines “winkin’, blinkin’, and nod…”, and the young boy is shown still asleep in his bed. WATCH the video below.
